How does this Hoover work?

We’re getting a flat inspection today. My flatmate and I are part of the growing band of would be first time buyers who are priced out of the market, so we have to rent off others to put a roof over our heads. I know the arguments – I’m just paying someone else’s mortgage – but it’s not that simple. Anyway, a representative from the letting agency is gracing us with his presence so that he can check we haven’t burnt down the kitchen / knocked through any walls / been sacrificing goats in the living room. To be honest, I dn’t think the letting agency could care less what we do with the flat as long as we don’t bother them, but the landlord wants to get the flat valued so it has to be in order. The very fact that some greasy estate agent (I don’t like estate agents, they are parasites close to the evils of job agencies) is coming round to put a figure on what is essentially my home means that the landlord is considering selling. A wise move in my opinion, he’ll get close to £250k for this flat (mostly due to the stupid Scottish system of selling) and unless house prices continue to skyrocket then, at our level of rent, he’s better off with the money in the building society (or whatever high yield portfolio he feels like stuffing it into). It’s a shame though, I really liked living here.
